Given a choice between this and the old non-mobile-optimized site, I'd take the latter. Everything is too squished on smaller iPhones.

Really? It looks kind of bad, but is more functional methinks.
I'm on an iPhone 5s. It looks the same as your screenshot, and I am not a fan at all. When it first loaded I assumed something was buggy with the browser or the css. I would like the option to go back to the old version.
