While today, 16GB of ram and 1TB of storage will soon not be enough for a modest computer.

Although I'm sure hardware companies will find a way to promote deep learning techniques into home computers, which will obviously require more and more transistors.
Today in 2018 you need 16GB. Back in 1998 it was 16MB and 20 years before that it was 16KB.
That should tell you how much you'll need in 2038.
