This is why AI won’t replace doctors. Doctors aren’t even allowed to properly use computers their user interfaces are handicapped. No API to the medical record (hospital IT locks it out even if there is one from the vendor). If they give AI access to the full medical record with an API, they will have to give doctors access too.

AI won't replace doctors, but it's not because of lack of API access to medical records. Medical records don't contain all of the data that an AI would need to make an accurate diagnosis and come up with an optimal treatment plan. In order for an AI to do that it would need to be able to see, touch, and converse with the patient. We're a long way from that capability.

  • I give it 10 years before I’ll be pleading with the paramedics to take me to the AMZN or GOOG hospital instead of XYZ Health System.

Problem is education. There is prolly literally little to none courses about computers in medical school in most part of the world.
