On pace to do what? Add numbers really fast? Play chess? Make a best guess of which news story I want to see? (Hint: not sports) Perform automatic gear shifting? Follow the vehicle in front of it?
Kurzweil has long been preaching that there will be a qualitative revolution in what AI will achieve - and it has been 15 years away, for the past three decades.
Not actually true, the always 15 years away bit. Three decades ago (1990) his prediction was Turing test and AGI in 2020–2050. More recently he's predicted Turning test 2029.
