The whole angle of the author is wrong.

If you don't want the other person to take it harshly, tell them exactly what you think. Talk about yourself and don't ask for an answer that you don't know.

I wonder if you've considered using XY. It seems it might be a good fit thanks to the ZZZ property of XY.
