I strongly agree with your main intent, i.e. that law should be interpreted by humans. However,

which you interpret as

"this is a clear sign that there is too much focus on the wording of the law. "

could also be interpreted as:

police often use illegal means to target people and fabricate evidence, and the US's well-functioning legal system stops this.

i havent looked at this in depth or even glazed over it but it seems the system of punishment scaled up to prevent repetition should work just fine? you punish the crime by the illegally gathered evidence AND you punish those who gathered it - harshly enough to prevent repetition? if the evidence is fabricated one should enjoy a good few years behind bars?
