What about updating it? What happens if you need to move it? What happens if something breaks? Who fixes it? Who monitors it?

You open a support ticket for your web hosting provider, and they do the upgrade/fix.
I remember updating and moving VBulletin/IPB/PhpBB being painless 15 years ago.
