Race-based hatred as been taboo for quite a while, starting big after WWII. It isn't current zeitgeist.
Why are you immediately assuming racism?
Maybe I'm misreading what he is getting at. Is it more of a politeness is bad thing?

CRT is racist against white people - it's the whole point of CRT.
Race-based hatred is still accepted in many places as long as it is towards the correct race.
