I can’t tell anyone adequately (or completely) what it’s like to be me, why should a bat be special?

It all ends up breaking down to analogy at a certain point “well, you know what it feels like when X happens? That’s what it feels like for me when Y occurs.

Some of the simpler analogies are things we all agree on, but they’re not actually “what it’s like to be me.”

What it’s like to be a bat with a new sense could be arrived at through analogy too, but it would be harder, but it’s perfectly possible. Start with what we have in common with bats and build from there.
