Tramp is quite slow though, IMHO, and last I used it Emacs very much expects file access to by synchr.

Tramp is quite slow though, IMHO, and last I used it Emacs very much expects file access to by synchr.
Tramp has like four backends, try sshfs if ssh is too slow
