I uninstalled Signal and haven't looked back due to the constant `X from your address book has joined Signal` notifications that you can't disable.

Except that, you can actually disable them.

Well that's new then. You used to not be able to.
There's a setting for it on Android at least:
Settings > Notifications > Notify When > Contact joins Signal
