Want to use PostgreSQL (or most other RDBMSs) as the backend for an actively developed, multiprotocol, multiplatform, open source, battle proven message broker that also provides a messaging REST API of its own? Use ActiveMQ (either flavor) and configure a JDBC backend. Done.
