There's an obvious solution to "language doesn't matter". Let the opinionated people pick the stack. Then you satisfy the needs of the people who care and those who don't care.

  • The opinionated people I disagree with sure like saying "language doesn't matter", as long as it preserves their status quo.

    • Which makes sense, since there's a cost involved in switching. So if someone believes that each option is equally good in isolation, then surely keeping whatever is already working will be the best. There's no contradiction. You have to argue that the benefits of switching outweigh the costs.
