The flagship editor is Visual Studio, not vs code.

But it's Windows-only, so it's not an option for me.
Rider is an option for you. Community edition is free too.
Rider is now entirely free for non commercial use.
Who said it was? It is the flagship editor though.
Why not VS Code with Ionide? It’s quite nice.
