I know that’s a popular sentiment here, but I honestly don’t think they give a shit.
This is 100% understandable to me as something to prevent random unknown websites from sending push notifications users don’t expect or know how to control from a site they accidentally visited weeks ago.
Accidentally visiting a website doesn’t give it permission to send notifications.
Seriously, it is not that difficult to let users choose whether to receive notifications, how often, and manage them later. Apple just had negative incentive to do that on the Web!
I'm definitely not glad about it.
They are doing it to make sure their apps still have an edge over websites.
