Nit: "the Fed" means the Federal Reserve Bank, which does not collect taxes. "The US treasury", "the Federal government" or "Fedgov" would work in your sentence.

It was supposed to be "the feds", short for "the federal government", but missing the s led to autocorrect on my phone correcting it to "the Fed". I can't edit it now, luckily I think the message is still pretty clear.
