It's an interesting thought experiment at least. Feels like one of those ideas that could work out number-wise on paper, but reality ends up making way, way harder than it first appears.

Would be cool to see the continuous wire machine on a smaller scale.

How much additional volume does the fuel to run the glass & aluminum furnaces take up, and how does that compare to the volume of insulation saved?

It's hard not to be cynical these days about AI, and so this comes off as a shower thought that someone proposed to an AI and got into a "what a great idea!" feedback loop.
