This missed one of the most badly named applications ever made: "Publish It!" It wasn't bad for an Apple II program, but say the name out loud to see why it's not a surprise that it is lost to history.

It was a brilliant app for the //e and later machines. Would use extra memory and was unbelievably fast for a 1 MHz CPU.

Sadly, its name makes it Google-proof.

  • It's surprisingly not that hard to find if you put it in quotes. I just looked now to take a trip down memory lane. I even found images of the original disk!

Ready for this: A full-powered desktop publishing system for the IIe which included a custom Mac-like GUI: 140KB.

Unbelievable. Additional disks had fonts, clip art and printer drivers. But the main app was insanely small. It really was brilliant.

;)

There was a similarly named program originally known in the UK as Timeworks Publisher. GEM-based though, hmm.
