The smugness of my interviewer during live coding tests has caused me to stop immediately and says “thanks for the opportunity”. Either ageism, or just being a jerk for some reason. Guy was breaking my balls over tree searches, which I have written from scratch.
I didn’t need the job that bad.
I’ve worked on one man projects that were hard realtime C image analysis (Fourier, calc, stats), large data science eval projects, devops stuff. CS degree and used it for published research.
I also had a five rounds of interviews a MANGA corp. Didn’t bother with the second because I didn’t have two months to waste.
Went hired gun and never looked back. Homey network uber alles, I make 10% less but I call all the shots, and am way healthier.
It will probably get worse before it gets better out there, between RTO and whatever LinkedIn is doing to CEOs.
