If you look at this through the lens of "using AI isn't cheating, because it's what they would be doing on the job", your interview was actually very effective, and a solid, tiny-bite-sized example of translating requirements.

I think this is a relatively positive direction of exploration in interviewing - let people use the tools that they will have on the job, but also ask them to do the kinds of things they'd need to do on the job, with the appropriate language. If they know how to get the AI to help them with it, more power to them.

I suppose this is just a rephrasing of "point-blank Leetcode questions are a bad interview technique and we should do better", though.
