Google Maps once had a useful button called "Local Favorites", presumably based on traffic data from local residents.
Which I doubt they ever will. They rarely launch new revenue models on legacy Google Services, such as maps.

Yea, I haven't seen them launch a consumer faced revenue model recently inside one of their legacy apps (calendar, maps) in years.
