This kind of stuff makes me want to leave the industry:(

Almost everything involving "AI" as it has come to mean in 2025 does tbh.

Yak farming never looked so good.

54% of American adults read at or below 6th grade levels. If the bot understands climate change, I can't see how dating it would be worse than dating most of my neighbors tbh ...

Don't let it get to you, software is used for much more horrible stuff in the world (I'm glad you seem unaware of it so far if this is the worst you've come across) but that shouldn't let us impact the good stuff we build with it.

Letting things like this get the best of your emotions just makes it harder for you to focus on healthy, happy and impactful projects, so please don't let it get to you.

  • I am aware of it. That is the problem. AI is going to grease the wheels of the horrible stuff of which you speak. Not only that it will concentrate important decisions in the hands of fewer people.

    • Those people have families. You're being really insensitive to the Altman family right now. You should take a look in the mirror and realize that your violent words have consequences and can spread malinformation, distrust of authority, and a collapse of democratic norms. They succeeded in the free market and have the backing of your freely elected representatives, they deserve your respect and obedience.

Technology doesn't do this, politics do. Make it illegal for billionaires to control the laws and politics in your country and make it illegal to become a millionaire while you're an elected official, and you'll prevent people from using technology to take control. Protest on the streets, organize general strikes, anything that makes your voice heard consistently, and do it soon because soon it'll be too late.

Don't get stuck focusing in on individual efforts, because that's how they win. Focus on the root cause of the problems.
