Officially we couldn't expect a non-Apple pocket to be compatible with an Apple phone.
I had the same excitement: "A pocket sized iPhone!? Yes!"
Has there even been a decently-sized phone since the Sony Compacts? And the iPhone minis of course.
Flips? I don’t feel like buying one but those look like they fit pockets easily.
They fit your pockets, but they're just as bad in the hand as any large phone is.
They're horrendously expensive and un-repairable. That rules it out for me, personally.

And instead of making a practical phone that would fit my pocket, we get this stupid, overpriced sock. What a joke.
It's also only compatible with iPhone 8 and above, according to the product page.
I'm replying to this on a 16 Pro (not Max) and it's a perfectly portable size imo
The Maxes are really huge tho
5.3 inch is still much more pocket size than 6.3
I just find it annoying to have larger one in my pocket, 5.3 feels ok or annoys much less.
Even if sometimes I would like to have bit bigger screen - I would rather optimize for comfort while holding phone in pocket’
