Wow this article is an amazing rorschach test! Each defensive comment here is a person defending what he thinks this article is personally attacking him on!

What you see as defensiveness, I see as reasonable replies to a very silly faux-inspirational post.

  • Have you considered the idea that it is just exaggerating to make a point and isn’t meant to be taken literally?

    Exaggeration is a common technique employed in human language for emphasis.

    • Not really sure what it's exaggerating? The writing style isn't one I'd characterize as exaggeration. Maybe you can clarify?

It's also unclear to me if people are intentionally ignoring the fact that it's about procrastination, or actually don't realize that in the rush to argue about what constitutes productive work.

I feel personally attacked. Not necessarily by the author but more by the part of my brain telling me to do useful work instead of slacking off.
