There are so many lessons going unlearned here. People who surrender their children to the government are upset that they aren't de-surrendered later in the evening once the child arrives physically at home. Even if they win the court battle, they've lost the philosophical one a long time ago.

Sounds like you're saying public school is fascism. Is that a correct interpretation of this comment?

  • Only in the broadest sense of the word fascist to mean "something I don't like". The public school system can be bad without it being bad in a way that precisely pattern-matches to Mussolini's control of Italy.

    • Fascism isn't a precise pattern-match to Mussolini's Italy, it's a vague region of concept space which contains Mussolini's Italy, Hitler's Germany, and many others.
