A ten-year-old iPad isn’t going to do anything remotely modern, but it’s still just fine for reading books, assuming you have some way to get them onto it. If I were to cobble together a small homepage (weather, reminders, what have you) on an internal server and deliver with unencrypted http, it would do that too.
