Hah, I actually got a new personal 64GB box just for some experiments I was doing where I needed a 33GB dataset in RAM at a time. Fortunately EBay makes this sort of bearable, especially using last generation's tech.

A few months ago I almost did an EBay order for 1TB of RAM for a different project, but chickened out because of how far RAM prices had risen recently, and I thought they'd probably go down. How wrong I was!
