Show HN: Practice spoken English by discussing real news articles
25 days ago (orratio.com)
Throughout my career as a software engineer, I noticed that for senior roles, communication often becomes the primary bottleneck for talented engineers. Especially for non-native English speakers who struggle to communicate concisely and effectively.
Most language apps rely on "ordering a coffee" or "booking a flight" scenarios. I found these extremely boring, so my app pulls the latest news (Tech, Science, Business) and turns them into speaking prompts.
How does it work?
1. Read a summary of a current event. 2. Record your opinion/summary. 3. Get feedback on your grammar, pacing, filler words ratio, tone, etc.
You can try a demo on a generic topic without logging in: https://www.orratio.com
It is still in very early stages, and I would love some feedback!
