People should stop using that word outside of the context of, you know, democracy.

"Democratization" as in "open it to the masses" has never really worked out well with anything. In your case, you are saying "I can dabble in tech where I don't know what I am doing". Is that really a good thing?

The barrier of entry is lower, so is the quality.

We "democratized" writing via social media. Now every dingus with a phone is an expert on everything, or so they think.
