No it doesn't need any sensors. Just needs your car to be on the compatible list.
It plugs in-line with the plug behind your rear view mirror and you pick the vehicle model to receive the correct adapter plug with your unit.
Depends on the car. Some require to intercept at the canbus gateway. I could recommend an installer
