The vast majority of Android users don't sideload apps. I used Android for years and only did it during dev. I don't know anyone who does it.

I had to sideload telegram, the version on Google Play has restrictions (censorship I believe) that the sideloaded version doesn't.

No need to restrict it then

  • Plenty of users will benefit from restricting it or even disabling sideloading entirely. I know my mother in her 70s can't be trusted with downloading random crap from the internet.

      There's a very simple fix for that, that doesn't involve her being a benchmark for others.
