`.local/bin` seems to be much more common in my experience for this use case. And for good reason.

`.local/bin` seems to be much more common in my experience for this use case. And for good reason.
~/bin is actually created per default on OpenSUSE (though it's removal has been discussed several times).
Unclutter your $HOME!
