This sounds like outright denial to me. There are already many red lines that have been crossed, and plainly stated intentions to go much further. I know it's comforting to write off the red lines as isolated incidents, and the statements as harmless political trolling. But at this point its utter foolishness - there are hard-earned reasons why we reaffirm societal values rather than trashing them.
