Indeed, exponential or larger than exponential growth in nature is always the beginning of a S curve. The article cites

> Moore's Law was exponential. We are no longer on Moore's Law.

This will also happen with super-exponential growth. A literal singularity won't happen - it will inevitably exhaust resources and will slow down.
