I also suspect you also may have some combination of ADHD or ASD, which would explain both your necessary dependence on a tool for relevance as well as your hostile defensiveness. Either way, in the long run, you will have trouble sticking around because tools eventually get replaced.
That explains why you know nothing. Good luck to whoever you manage, I do not envy them.
Would suck to have someone be your manager who refuses to even understand the new tools, much less use them; you will make a GREAT manager.

Execs will not put up with managers who are not going to use the best tools. I expect soon you will be forced to, or you're out.
Also, I've been writing code for over 20 years. I started programming LUA and ActionScript back in 2000 when I was 10 years old.
