Backend engineer, ~2 years. Currently building a 9-service biometric verification platform end-to-end as a solo contractor — FastAPI + Postgres 16 with Fernet-encrypted PII and PgBouncer transaction pooling, an APScheduler container coordinating AWS Rekognition with two Java microservices for fingerprint and iris matching, plus a Kotlin Android client with offline-first sync. Before this, low-latency Go services at Longshot Systems (London algo-trading firm). Joined without Go, was shipping in my second month — comfortable picking up new stacks fast.
