Prediction: AI coding will be a boon for Free software. Eventually people will get tired of the novelty of "each person can write his own desktop environment made for one" and coalesce around a few instances which become popular. The effort will then turn from "everyone can build his own using AI" to "everyone can add features that they themselves want or fix the bugs that bother them using AI".

And before you say "oh but these are just stochastic parrots and this is really stolen code" - well the jury is stil out, but currently companies don't have these kind of problems, so I expect that anyone will be able to go "my claude did it so I declare it to be Free software".
