I think we can agree that curing disease is a ‘public good’, compared to disease maintenance in which the patient must buy a drug once a month for the rest of their life just to keep the disease in check, yes? While also potentially remaining as an infectious source of disease? But what if curing a disease eliminates demand for maintenance drugs, harming capitalist returns?
