The total of Meta AI Capex for the last five years, reaches between $313 billion and $333 billion.

As comparison NASA’s entire annual budget is roughly $24.4 billion...

He did the same thing with VR/Oculus/Reality Labs. Huge budget but it doesn't justify itself in terms of outcomes. Strange. Is it something in the way he/Meta manages the projects?

I think Meta has a problem that very few of its internal projects widely succeed. Facebook and Messenger being the only two. The rest of the successes were acquisitions.

  • that's what you get being 100% top down. zuck will only accept his own ideas. just like musk, but without the market manipulation knack.

all other companies good products came from down up, like gmail, gmaps, etc.

Im presuming This does not include R&D which should actually be classified as a capital expenditure not operating.

  • that is only a tax dodging semantic. investors usually put it all under the same line for analysis.

Would be interesting to see what they can actually show for that investment. Some VR goggles and Raybans.

  • would be more interesting to strip them for parts and see if you could fund NASA improvements
