It's apples to oranges. No matter how many reasons one has to avoid github, Codeberg is only an alternative for open source hosting.
Are there any alternatives that you could use for closed source development that aren't owned by US entities?

Self hosted gitlab etc.
What if you can't be bothered and would rather pay a symbolic subscription, like what github offers?
Be the change you want to see. Nobody is doing that outside the US because they can't get business away from GitHub, apparently.
