I suspect the pork ban is twofold, preventing foodborne illness and also pigs can’t eat hay/grass like cows and goats, they eat what humans eat.

Sure. I also liked the idea that some of the rules are to promote tribalism by making clear defining lines.
A much weaker form compared to missions where people go out into the real world and get insulted and retreat back to the safety of their religion.
