Certainly wasn't the case for any of the houses I've bought. All were compromises in various ways; none were houses we loved on first sight.

That's true of just about everything.
No, we never saw anything we didn't at least look at. We had spent the time to go to the place, might as well look at it.
Did we rule out places based on photos/descriptions? Yes, certainly.
