I’ve fallen victim to this when I was doing coursework in the last decade.

Either a moodle module or a block of text in box in a textbook had something important to the concept I was learning, but I subconsciously ignored it because it had a format similar to an internet ad.

Something to ad to the long list of "real costs of ad-supported content and services".
