In terms of project trajectory this is also an interesting contrast. DuckDB is "SQLite, but for OLAP".

DuckDB 1.0 was in 2024. DuckDB 2.0 (new API, new storage format, new ...) is in 2026.

SQLite has been 3.x since 2004.
