I am a backend engineer with ten years of experience, recently laid off from Faire, where I spent four years building and running the services behind a free-shipping membership program in Kotlin and gRPC on AWS. Most of my work sits on the platform side of product teams: decomposing monoliths into services, designing data models across relational and NoSQL stores, and building the deployment, routing, and rollback machinery that makes large changes safe to ship under live traffic. I carry production on-call for what I build and run the post-mortems afterwards. Earlier in my career I worked lower in the stack on Android platform and embedded software, initially in security assessment of system services and later on building security enclave applications. I am looking for senior backend or platform engineering roles, remote or anywhere in Canada.
