Plenty of shows continue in a movie, like Firefly (2002) -> Serenity (2005), so I can see why you'd want to mix.

I get it’s a personal thing but yeah I’d still separate them. Tv != Movie.
I separate everything by decade > type > year (of start date). Don't even keep multiple seasons in the same folder if they are from different years. Still ends up mixing all types within a decade.
But I prefer splitting things by decades as a first level. The distinction of cinema, direct-to-video, TV show, TV movie, web and others isn't really that important to me.
