My car is much older and I used to hope it would last forever. But now I hope it dies soon enough that when I go to replace it, the options for non smart cars haven't gone away.

They aren't going to go away. You can still buy cars that are 50 years old.
Not really. A 50 year old is a collectable, in high demand.
