Boeing 737 MAX tragedy did happen because of self-certification abuse, still I would not call FAA certification worthless.

Boeing is a company worth billions of dollars. "UKCSR" is not, there is absolutely no consequence to them getting shut down due to unsafe products. They'll just come back tomorrow as "JUSGB."
