Just like the regimes in Iran and other authoritarian places do to dissent. Even threatening criminal prosecution for having dissident ideas they claim are on behalf of foreign states. Wow.

They prosecuted a guy for calling out that the reflecting pool sealant was falling apart. They are still trying to prosecute him.

Bro, Jeanine Pirro filed to dismiss this (ridiculous) case against Hearn in July. It's over; they are not still trying to prosecute him.
That did happen in July, yes.
And the the DOJ came back wanting to lay additional charges (other than those dropped in July) and Hearn was back in court in August and September arguing that the case should be dropped with prejudice so the original criminal case is permanently ended and to block the Trump administration from filing the same claim again.
The current sitting POTUS is a deeply petty man, pathologically incapable of letting perceived grievances rest.
