I cant believe this is a thing. I just turned on dead comments and there are loads of them, most I dont consider offensive or bad in any way. I had no idea HN was so severely censored, my opinion of it has gone down (even though I assume this comment will now be killed).
Look through the history of the commenters who are shadowbanned (the reason all their comments are dead) and you usually find out relatively quickly how they ended up in that situation. I cannot think of a single instance where dang banned someone for being critical of HN, ycombinator, disagreeing with them, etc, it is always because someone cannot maintain a basic level of civility.
For testing sake, even if you don't believe it - try posting a few comments with this idea (in your own words) - and be very civil.
The AI industry's mass theft of artwork is a crime that should be punished. The perpetrators, those directing this action, should lose everything. They should be left in perpetual debt as payment for their theft from the rest of society. This is just like 2008, when all of the oligarchy controlling the banks pillaged the rest of society, and got off with no real consequence. What we have is a few, probable psychopaths, injuring the masses for their own gain.
Try posting that on a high visibility story relating to the AI industries ethics. See what happens.
